NHO Visits the Subsea Cluster

Irene Lillehammer

Kristin Skogen Lund, Director General of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), visited the subsea cluster at Ågotnes Friday.

NHO is the main representative organisation for Norwegian employers, with member companies ranging from small family-owned businesses to multi-national companies. NCE Subsea and Coast Center Base (CCB) together invited Kristin Skogen Lund to visit the subsea cluster at Ågotnes.

The purpose of the visit vas to give Skogen Lund an understanding of the extensive subsea cluster in the region, which is organised under the Norwegian Centre of Expertise Subsea (NCE Subsea).

- Coast Center Base is the world’s largest base for subsea aftermarket activities, says Kurt Andreassen, Managing Director at CCB. No place in the world has as much subsea equipment in one geographically limited area as right here, and the world-leading companies FMC Technologies and Aker Solutions run their subsea aftermarket units from Ågotnes. Statoil also has its larges subsea tool pool at the base.

Across the fjord, on Horsøy in Askøy, OneSubsea has built their new facilities for production, assembly and testing of subsea pumps and processing systems. Just north of that is Hanøytangen, where Bergen Group will increase their focus on subsea activities.

- No place in the world rivals the ongoing subsea activity around Hjeltefjorden, says Owe Hagesæther, CEO of NCE Subsea.

World-Class

 - We wanted to introduce Skogen Lund to this world-class environment for subsea solutions, along with the opportunities and challenges that the subsea cluster are facing, says Hagesæther. The visit also included company presentations by Aker Solutions, FMC Technologies and Coast Center Base, as well as a tour of the base.

- We do hope and believe that Kristin Skogen Lund has benefited greatly from the visit at Ågotnes and CCB, Hagesæther concludes.
